Tommy Cattin is a Swiss-Italian dancer, choreographer and movement director whose artistic practice moves between contemporary dance, theatre, opera and music. His work explores the expressive possibilities of the body, bringing together physicality, theatricality and a curiosity for different movement languages.

Throughout his career, he has worked internationally as a freelance performer, collaborating with renowned artists and choreographers including Romeo Castellucci, Marcos Morau, Susanne Kennedy, Jasmine Morand, Evelin Facchini and Marie Chouinard.

His performance experience has taken him to major European stages and festivals, including Théâtre de la Ville in Paris, Teatros del Canal in Madrid, Theater Basel, Haus der Berliner Festspiele, Wiener Festwochen, Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona and the Salzburg Festival.

Alongside his career as a performer, Tommy has developed his own choreographic practice. In 2020, he founded his company EREM dance in Switzerland, creating and presenting works across different performance contexts. Among his creations is TRIOMPHE (2022), co-produced by Théâtre du Jura with the support of fOrum Culture and VIADANSE. In 2024, he was selected by Pro Helvetia to participate in the ATLAS Programme at ImPulsTanz – Vienna International Dance Festival. In 2025, he was invited to develop new choreographic work as part of the 7×7 programme at Tanzhaus Basel.

His interest in the relationship between movement, music and theatrical expression has also led him towards movement direction, collaborating on theatre productions, opera and music videos. Working with dancers, actors and singers, he approaches choreography as a means of developing physical identities, dramatic situations and visual narratives. His multidisciplinary practice allows him to move between the performing arts and contemporary music, exploring how movement can shape the identity and atmosphere of a production.

Research and experimentation remain central to his artistic development. His practice has been enriched by encounters and training with international artists and companies such as Trisha Brown Dance Company, Batsheva Ensemble, Damien Jalet, Marcos Morau, Tanztheater Wuppertal, and many others. In 2025, supported by a CICAS grant, he travelled to New York to participate in the Trisha Brown Dance Company Winter Intensive and further explore modern dance techniques and movement practices connected to ballroom culture.

Alongside his artistic work, Tommy regularly teaches professional dancers, students and movement enthusiasts internationally. He has led classes and workshops in Switzerland, France, Spain, Italy, Denmark and the United Kingdom, sharing a movement practice informed by contemporary dance techniques, physical exploration and the diversity of his performance experience.

Tommy holds a Master's degree in Contemporary Dance Performance from the Northern School of Contemporary Dance in Leeds and a Bachelor's degree from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London, where he received the Simone Michelle Award for his choreographic achievements. He also studied at the Institut del Teatre in Barcelona as part of the Erasmus programme.

Based in Switzerland but active across Europe, Tommy continues to develop an artistic practice that connects performance, choreography and movement direction, seeking new forms of collaboration across disciplines and artistic environments.
